After messing around with my jabberd, s2s died due to ip changing, I went around making sure all the misc jabber services were working. This includes dict@openaether.org which is a dictionary bot. (todo: link to js.o once it is alive again)
It takes a while for it to initialize and be able to handle requests, in the range of minutes. Realizing that rosters are the bane of any jabber client, I was curious as to how big dictbot’s was.
1,346
Thats bloody huge!
update: dict bot takes about 25 minutes to init.
sorry- 1,346 what? KB?
1,346 entries in the roster. meaning 1,346 users are subscribed to xmpp:dict@openaether.org
But how does dict@openaether.org work? How do I use it? Or is not useable right now?
subscribe to it, send it a message with “help” or just send it a word. it will return a definition.
Doesnt work …
It works for me and a lot of other people. Do the following steps:
1. Subscribe to dict@openaether.org
2. Send the message, “ping”
3. You will get the definition of ping.
If that does not work, then there is something wrong with your client configuration.
